INTRA-STATE E-WAY BILL TO BE ROLLED OUT IN 6 MORE STATES |
From 20th April’2018, six more states will implement intra-state e-way bill. The states which will implement are Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura and Uttarakhand. Since 15th April’2018, the intra-state e-way bill system was already rolled out in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.
The finance ministry has rolled out such decision since e-way bills are getting generated successfully and till 17thApril, 2018 more than one crore thirty three lakhs e-Way Bills have been successfully generated which includes more than six lakhs e-Way Bills which have been generated for intra-State movement of goods from 15th to 17th of April, 2018.
The e-way bill for inter-state movement of goods was rolled out on 1st April’2018 and within 20 days 12 states will implement intra-state e-way bills. It is a big achievement for Government. The rolling out of e-way bill system in phases has helped the technical team of GST department to handle the burden efficiently and to gear up in advance for any technical glitches bound to happen.
It is expected that trade and industry will be further facilitated insofar as the transport of goods is concerned, thereby eventually paving the way for a nation-wide single e-Way Bill system. It is advisable for the transporters and traders in these states to get them registered under GST e-way bill portal at the earliest and not to wait for the last date.
